Christopher Ulrich Illuminator: The Royal Wedding

In August of 2009 I was in Los Angeles for the Voluptuaries and Vivisection Show at La Luz Dejesus.

Before the opening I was at Billy Shire Fine Arts browsing through the book section when Matt Kennedy

handed me a copy of Christopher Ulrich’s Book Demoneater. As I paged through it I knew right away that

this was work of outstanding talent and vision. Matt told me that Christopher was in fact doing a show on Melrose that evening.

I showed up and met Christopher. He signed my Demoneater book and we had a brief conversation about Metaphysics.

This took place on my 40th Birthday. Later that year I was contacted by Christopher’s Fiancé Melinda Mascayano about

doing some print work for the up coming Illuminator: The Royal Wedding series that Christopher was working on.

I shamelessly jumped at the opportunity and became the co publisher of the series. When the originals arrived

I realized immediately that the reason I started Transmission Atelier was to be exposed to work like this.

Christopher also provided a set of instructions as to how he wanted the edition to be setup.

These instructions were by far the best and the clearest project instructions ever.

As co-publisher of the series Transmission Atelier has an (extremely limited) three copies each of the 16 drawings which are available

one set is going in our archives so there are only two sets available for sale from Transmission Atelier

framed in our shop for $375.  Christopher Ulrich’s Illuminator: The Royal Wedding show opened at La Luz Dejesus on August 6th and runs until August 29th.
